About Me
Xin chao! My name is Tung Tran.
I'm a Vietnamese entrepreneur who's been building things on the internet since I was 15.
I live in Hanoi with my wife, our son, and two corgis.
This is my personal blog. I started it in 2013 to document my journey — the lessons, the mistakes, and the occasional win. I plan to keep writing here for a long time.
What I Do
I build and invest in internet businesses.
Over the years, I've built and sold multiple profitable websites, co-founded a crypto media company, and grown a venture portfolio with 50+ team members and 60+ investments.
Lately, I've been deep into AI — using it to code, write, and rethink how I work. It's opened up a whole new chapter for me.
My Story
Here's the short version.
2006 — Got my first PC as a gift. Changed everything.
2007 — Taught myself HTML and CSS. Built random websites for fun.
2010 — Discovered affiliate marketing. Switched from blogging in Vietnamese to English — bigger market, bigger opportunities.
2011 — Made my first affiliate sale. $118.08. I'll never forget that number.
2012 — Sold my first blog on Flippa for $3,500. Still in high school.
2013 — Dropped out of college to go full-time. Everyone thought I was crazy. Started Cloud Living to document the ride.
2013–2017 — Built niche websites. Some worked, some flopped. Learned more from the failures. Grew a small team and started running things like a real business.
2018–2019 — Co-founded TK Media with my best friend. Built it into a profitable media company.
2020 — Everything clicked. All my sites grew at once. First year crossing 7 figures in profit. Sold my largest websites to a major Canadian company by year's end.
2021 — Pivoted hard into crypto. Renamed the company to TK Ventures. Built media assets, grew the team to 50+, made 60+ blockchain investments. Ended up being my best year financially.
2022–2023 — Hit the brakes. Focused on health, family, and figuring out what I actually wanted next.
2024 — Became a dad. That changed everything. Spent the year taking care of my son. Businesses kept running, just at a slower pace.
2025 — A tough year. Business kept doing well, but almost everything else was hard. Exited a bad real estate deal at a loss. Held too much cash while real estate and stocks boomed around me. Got hacked and lost a significant amount of crypto. Spent too much energy on FOMO and greed. And on top of all that, my dad had a stroke. He's recovering, but it hit me really hard. A humbling year with a lot of expensive lessons.
2026 — Back in building mode. Using AI heavily — for coding, writing, organizing my life. Feels like the start of something new. Also why I'm writing here again.
A Few Things About Me
I'm an introvert. Small groups and real conversations over big events.
English is my second language. Writing used to take me forever. AI changed that. Now I focus on the ideas and let the tools handle the polish.
I value enough. I've been fortunate. But I learned early that chasing more for the sake of more doesn't lead anywhere good. I'd rather have time, health, and freedom.
I'm always learning. A new programming language, a trading strategy, how to keep an aquarium alive — there's always something.
When I'm not working: Gaming, yoga, reading, traveling, aquascaping, scuba diving. Lately I've been growing a garden and playing pickleball. The garden is going well. The pickleball... not so much.
Why This Blog Exists
Cloud Living started as a way to share what I was learning about making money online.
Over the years, it became something more personal. Now it's just me writing about what I know. No fluff. No guru act. Just real stories from someone who's been at this for over a decade.
If something I write helps you avoid a mistake or gives you a useful idea — that's enough for me.
My DMs are always open.
Cheers!
